Training Location

Our specialised Skills Centre is easily accessible for students based in Balga WA: Unit 2/22 Winton Rd, Joondalup WA 6027. Located just a short drive from Balga via Wanneroo Road or the Mitchell Freeway (Hodges Drive exit). We are a 10-minute walk from the Joondalup Train Station and offer extensive free on-site parking for all students.

Delivery & Duration

This course is conducted through a blended learning model, including face-to-face classroom sessions and virtual instruction. The classroom component lasts approximately 10 weeks.

In addition to theory, a mandatory 80-hour (2-week) supervised work placement is required. This practical experience is organised by our team and scheduled toward the end of your studies.

Classes run 4 days per week from 9am to 4.30pm. With our rolling intake system, Balga residents can begin their disability support courses at almost any time during the year.

Course Units

To successfully complete this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 10 units (7 core and 3 elective):

  • CHCDIS017 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion
  • CHCDIS018 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centred approach
  • CHCDIS019 Provide person-centred services to people with disability with complex needs
  • CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues
  • HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety

Elective Units:

  • HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication
  • CHCDIS021 Prepare for NDIS support coordination
  • CHCDIS022 Coordinate NDIS participant support

Work Placement

To achieve this certification, students must complete 80 hours of practical work within a registered aged care or disability facility. This placement is vital for proving your competency in a real-world environment. Students begin their placement after all classroom requirements have been met.

Enrolment Requirements

To enrol in the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, you must hold a relevant prior certificate. Valid entry requirements include:

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or
  • CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or
  • CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability plus the specified entry requirements skill set.

You must provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) and the following documents:

  • National Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • Updated Immunisation Record (including COVID-19 and Flu)
  • NDIS Screening Check
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Infection Control and Hand Hygiene Certificates

Eligibility & Lower Fee Pricing

Residents of Balga WA who are Australian citizens or permanent residents may be eligible for Lower Fee (government-subsidised) pricing through the Jobs and Skills WA initiative.

  • Concession Rate: $261.60
  • Non-Concession Rate: $882.90 (Note: Fees are indicative and may vary based on individual circumstances during enrolment).

Fee for Service Pricing

Students who do not meet the criteria for government subsidies can enrol via the Fee for Service option for $2,500.

  • Deposit: A $1,200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your position.
