Training Location

Delivery & Duration

This course is delivered in a classroom environment through a combination of face-to-face training at the venue as well as virtual mode.

• Approximately 21 weeks of classroom delivery
• 120 hours of work placement over approximately 3 weeks
• Classes held Monday to Thursday
• Classes run from 9am to 4:30pm
• Rolling intake allowing students to start the course almost anytime

Work placement will be organised by Job Skills Training Academy towards the end of classroom training.

Course Units

To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 15 units. The course information includes the following units:

Work Placement

To achieve this qualification, students must complete 120 hours of work in an aged care facility, with mandatory conditions as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the relevant units of competency.

Students commence work placement once all classroom training has been attended and concluded.

Enrolment Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course. Students are required to have proficiency in Language, Literacy and Numeracy to a minimum of ACSF Level 3.

This is assessed through an LLN test completed on site prior to enrolment. The test normally takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

Once a suitable result has been achieved, students are required to complete the enrolment form. Students must also have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) to complete Nationally Recognised Training.

Students will not be able to commence work placement until all required documents are provided at least two weeks before the placement commencement date.

Eligibility

All applications are assessed by the Job Skills Training Academy administration team on a case-by-case basis.

Students are required to submit valid forms of photo identification, proof of citizenship, residency or visa status and complete a student enrolment form.

Students are eligible for the course if they have left school, their primary place of residence is in Western Australia, and they meet the applicable citizenship or visa requirements.

• Bridging visa holders who are eligible to work and have made a valid application for subclass 866

Fee-Free Government Subsidised Course

Australian citizens, permanent residents and some visa holders may be eligible for the Fee Free Government Subsidised Course. Eligibility also depends on current employment status.

Fee for Service Pricing

Students who are not eligible for any government incentive can still enrol and complete the course by paying $2,700.

A $1,200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place of study. The balance of the tuition fee can be spread out on a payment plan.

The tuition fee amount must be paid in full before starting the work placement.
