Introduction

Training Location
Training is delivered at our Skills Centre:
Unit 2/22 Winton Rd, Joondalup WA 6027
(10-minute walk from Joondalup Train Station, close to Mitchell Freeway – Hodges Drive Exit, with ample parking available).
Delivery & Duration
- Mode: Classroom and virtual learning, plus practical placement.
- Duration: Approximately 16 weeks for the morning class and 27 weeks for the evening class.
- Work Placement: 120 hours (3 weeks) in a registered aged care or disability care facility
- Schedule: Classes run Monday to Thursday, 9am – 5pm.
- Flexibility: Rolling intakes allow you to start almost anytime. Students may take up to 12 months to complete.
Your practical placement will be organised by Job Skills Training Academy and is a key part of building your real-world skills as a care worker.

Enrolment Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for this individual support course. However, students must demonstrate Language, Literacy and Numeracy (ACSF Level 3) via a short LLN test.
You will also need to provide the following before commencing work placement:
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Updated Immunisation Record with all COVID as well as flu vaccinations
- NDIS Screening check (This is a requirement from aged care facilities even if you are only doing the ageing stream)
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Hand Hygiene Certificate
- NDIS Orientation module
- Infection Control Certificate
- Working with Children Check
These requirements are standard for disability support workers and aged care support workers across Perth.

Work Placement
Students must complete 120 hours of supervised practical placement in an aged care or disability facility to gain competency. This placement provides essential real-world experience as a personal care worker, care assistant, or disability support worker.
Course Fees & Payment Options
- Eligible Students: Australian citizens, permanent residents, and some visa holders may qualify for fee-free or government-subsidised training through Skills WA.
- Full Fee: $3,000 for students not eligible for subsidies.
- $1200 deposit required, inclusive of non-refundable administration fee of $200
- Flexible payment options are available for the balance
- Tuition must be paid in full before commencing placement
Students who are not eligible for any government subsidies can still enrol and complete the course by paying $3,000. A $1200 deposit, inclusive of a non-refundable administration fee of $200, is required to secure a place of study. The balance of the tuition fee can be spread out on a payment plan. The tuition fee amount should be paid in full prior to starting the Work Placement.
