Training Location
Training for Sorrento residents is delivered at our nearby Skills Centre: Unit 2/22 Winton Rd, Joondalup WA 6027 (A convenient commute from Sorrento, located a 10-minute walk from Joondalup Train Station and easily accessible via the Mitchell Freeway with ample free parking).
Delivery & Duration
- Mode: A blend of face-to-face classroom learning, virtual sessions, and a mandatory practical placement.
- Duration: Approximately 15 weeks of classroom delivery.
- Work Placement: 160 hours (4 weeks) of hands-on experience in a registered aged care or disability facility.
- Schedule: Classes run Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 5pm.
- Flexibility: Rolling intakes allow you to start almost immediately. Students may take up to 12 months to satisfy all requirements.

Enrolment Requirements
There are no formal academic prerequisites for this individual support course. However, students must demonstrate Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) at ACSF Level 3 via a short assessment.
Before starting your work placement, you must provide:
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Updated Immunisation Record with all COVID as well as flu vaccinations
- NDIS Screening check (This is a requirement from aged care facilities even if you are only doing the ageing stream)
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Hand Hygiene Certificate
- NDIS Orientation module
- Infection Control Certificate
- Working with Children Check

Work Placement
Completion of 160 hours of supervised work placement is a mandatory requirement. This phase is vital for building real-world competency as a disability support worker or personal care assistant, allowing you to apply person-centred care in a professional environment.
Course Fees & Payment Options
- Eligible Students: Sorrento residents who are Australian citizens or permanent residents may qualify for fee-free or government-subsidised training through Skills WA.
- Full Fee: $3,000 for students not eligible for government funding.
- Payment Plans: A $1,200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The remaining balance can be managed via a flexible payment plan, provided the full amount is paid prior to your work placement beginning.
Student who are not eligible for any government subsidies can still enrol and complete the course by paying $3,000. A $1200 (non-refundable) deposit is required to secure a place of study. The balance of tuition fee can be spread out on a payment plan. The tuition fee amount should be paid in full prior to starting the Work Placement.
