Training Location
For residents in Balga, training is delivered at our centrally located Skills Centre: Unit 2/22 Winton Rd, Joondalup WA 6027 (A convenient commute from Balga, situated a 10-minute walk from the Joondalup Train Station and close to the Mitchell Freeway with ample free parking).
Delivery & Duration
- Mode: A combination of face-to-face classroom sessions, virtual learning modules, and a mandatory practical placement.
- Duration: Approximately 15 weeks of intensive classroom-based instruction.
- Work Placement: 160 hours (4 weeks) of hands-on experience in a registered aged care or disability facility.
- Schedule: Sessions are conducted Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 5pm.
- Flexibility: We offer frequent rolling intakes, allowing you to start your training almost immediately. Students can take up to 12 months to satisfy all course requirements.
Your work placement is fully coordinated by our team, ensuring you gain critical real-world experience as a care worker.

Enrolment Requirements
There are no formal academic prerequisites for this course. However, students must demonstrate appropriate Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills at ACSF Level 3 via a brief assessment.
To participate in the required work placement, you will need to provide:
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Updated Immunisation Record with all COVID as well as flu vaccinations
- NDIS Screening check (This is a requirement from aged care facilities even if you are only doing the ageing stream)
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Hand Hygiene Certificate

Work Placement
Successful completion of the course requires 160 hours of supervised work placement. This practical component is essential for mastering the duties of a disability support worker or personal care assistant, allowing you to apply individualised support theories in a real-life setting.
Course Fees & Payment Options
- Eligible Students: Many Balga residents may be eligible for fee-free or government-subsidised training via Skills WA.
- Full Fee: $3,000 for students who do not qualify for government funding.
- Payment Plans: A $1,200 non-refundable deposit is required to enrol. The remaining balance can be settled through a flexible payment plan, provided the total is paid before the work placement begins.
Student who are not eligible for any government subsidies can still enrol and complete the course by paying $3,000. A $1200 (non-refundable) deposit is required to secure a place of study. The balance of tuition fee can be spread out on a payment plan. The tuition fee amount should be paid in full prior to starting the Work Placement.
